J&K has 5.67 lakh educated unemployed youths | Lowest number of 3,193 youths were registered in Leh.

Jammu, Mar 13 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir has 5.67 lakh educated unemployed youths registered with various Employment and counselling cells in the state.
Replying to a query during the Question Hour, Minister for Labour and Employment A G Malik said as many as 2,95,286 educated unemployed youths were registered in Kashmir region while 2,72,072 were registered in Jammu region till December 2009.

The lowest number of 3,193 unemployed youths were registered in Leh district of Ladakh region and highest number of 62,839 such youths were registered in Srinagar district of Kashmir valley, he said.
The Minister said the Government has already announced a new employment policy in Jammu and Kashmir which is the first step towards a focussed and coordinated response to the challenge posed by unemployment.
The employment policy would be implemented from April 1, 2010 for which Rs 113 crores have been allocated in the budget.

Army sponsors Ladakhi students for studies outside | Operation Sadbhavana in Ladakh

Udhampur, Mar 12 : Running in its 10th year now, Operation Sadbhavana continues to add smiles to the lives of the J&K population.

Every year, Army encourages the young and brilliant minds of Ladakh to study across the nation, in some of the most reputed institutes. Third Infantry Division under this venture has been sponsoring students of Eastern Ladakh for over six years now.

Fifteen brilliant and talented students selected under this venture are studying in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Solan. In addition to the boarding, lodging and education expenditures, the Division also takes the responsibility of dispatching these students to their home during vacation and back to the school on termination of the holidays. Eight girls, this year, prior to their departure, had an interactive session with Brig Ajay Kumar, Deputy GOC, HQ 3 Infantry Division.

There was immense enthusiasm amongst the girls about this opportunity. Deputy GOC during his interaction with the students motivated them to put in their best efforts in all fields and aim at all round development of their personalities. He shared his experiences and enquired about their aspirations. Rigzin Dolker in her words describes the experience as that of a life time. A student of class XII, Stanzin Angmo expressed her earnest desire to join the Armed forces.

Nomination for minorities, women in LAHDC in Leh and Kargil districts.

Jammu, March 13 (PTI) The state government today said it was actively considering nominating minorities and women from Leh and Kargil districts to fill the vacancies in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LADHC).

It is true that nominated seats for minorities and women in LADHC in Leh and Kargil districts are lying vacant, Minister for Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather told the Legislative Council in a written reply to a question by Congress' Nurboo Gialchen.

He said proposals for nomination have been recieved from various quarters for both the districts and the matter is under active consideration of the government.

There is no question of depriving the minorities and women of due representation in LADHC in Leh and Kargil, he said.
