Though they use the same script, the Tibetan and Ladakhi languages are signifi cantly diff erent. The wonderfully all-purpose word jule (pronounced joo-lay) means ‘hello’, ‘goodbye’, ‘please’ and ‘thanks’. To the greeting khamzang, simply reply khamzang. Zhimpo-rak means ‘it’s delicious’.
