One day workshop on “Careers and Employability” Organized by “District Employment and Counseling Center.
Leh, 11, October, 2013: – VisitLadakh.com – Focusing the students of Elezer Joldan College, Leh who will after their college pursue different jobs and business for their career and livelihood, a one day workshop on “Careers and Employability: Opportunities for jobs and Entrepreneurship” was today organized at Degree College, Leh. Organized by District Employment and Counseling Center, Leh, professionals / resource persons in different fields including civil services, agriculture, diary, banking & management, army & paramilitary and academic/research were invited to share their experiences with students so that they could plan career suitably.
The Deputy Commissioner, Leh Simrandeep Singh (IAS) who was invited to guide the students in opting civil services said that it is not only the trend of Leh students but the trend of general student masses of J&K state that while seeking admission in schools, colleges and other institutions is not focus oriented or career oriented going only for minimum basic degree following their fellow friends. Elaborating various career options in civil services, DC, Leh stressed upon the students to focus their aim right from the school with strong willpower and dedication saying that it is a matter of one strong devoted and hardworking year at the time of exam to qualify civil service examination. Encouraging the potentials of Ladkahi students, he made a mention of C. Punchok, the first IAS from Leh who later succeed to held the post of chief secretary the highest position of J&K civil administration.
Earlier, Dy. Director Employment Tsering Paldan explained in detail about the aim and objectives of day long workshop. Other resource persons who shared their experiences in their respective fields are Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Sh. Mipham Otsal ( nsd) on importance of theater in career building, D. Stoban Scientist DRDO on Academics/ Research, Sonam Puntsog Onpo on Diary, Zubair Ahmad farmer on low cost agriculture farming technologies for cold desert and Safina Zakir on Banking and Management.
The workshop was attended by all the students, teaching faculty of degree college Leh headed by their principal S.K Sharma.
