LADAKH, Jan 25: Thousands today joined the Tazia procession organised on the 40th day martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, Grandson of Prophet Muhammad in this border town despite minus 20 degree temperature.
The mourners raised anti-US and Israel slogans at the end of the procession, organised on the 40th day martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, Grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
People had come from far flung and remote areas, some of them covering 10 km distance on foot because of closure of roads due to heavy snowfall.
Wearing black dress, the mourners, under the banner of Imam Khomini Memorial Trust (IKMT), gathered at Public Park and joined mid-day prayers after "Nawaha Khwani" and beating their chests.
